The International Engine of the Year award is one of the automotive industry’s most lucrative accolades. It’s judged by an international panel of 76 renowned motoring journalists from 36 countries.

From 1996, the PSA Group won the International Engine of the Year Award in the 1.4 to 1.8 litre engine category for eight consecutive years running. The winning 1.6 litre turbo reduces emissions to 0% and powered the Peugeot 208 GTi and now-retired RCZ Sports Coupé.

In 2015, 2016 and 2017, the 1.2‑litre three-cylinder Turbo PureTech petrol engine won the 'Engine of the Year' award in the 1-litre to 1.4-litre category, praised by judges for its ability to deliver torque at low revs and its smooth running capability. The three-cylinder engine reduces emissions by around 20% compared to the four cylinder version, whilst maintaining the power and performance of a larger engine.

The three-cylinder engine is a component in the Peugeot 208, Peugeot 2008 SUV, Peugeot 308, all-new Peugeot 3008 SUV and the Peugeot 5008 MPV.
